Social Media is so revealing. There are two rules about the use of Social Media, either hide everything or show everything. Mangrove clearly hasn’t learned this valuable lesson about living your life in the Cloud.

Just 4 days ago Mangrove told the world that he was in a  relationship, then yesterday it was all over and  he started up a new one. As a bloke you have to admire his profligate way with women.

Quite a few times in the past week Tiger Mallard has got himself in a spot of bother with his growing internet addiction.

The Whale’s spies in Goff’s office tell me that they are concerned with his addiction and his dropping off in workload  in other areas as a result.

It’s strange really because Tiger really seems to be the only senior Labour MP presently awake at the wheel. Even if that alertness is the best entertainment on the net right now. Tiger is really does seem to has his y-fronts in a twist and is spending more and more time locked away in a dark room muttering about the indignity of being in opposition. It might explain his creepy fixation with all things Cactus.

Speaking of entertainment, it seems some MPs are finding coming to grips with Social Media, Tiger especially after de-friending Metiria “Tiki” Turei. What a pompous ass him talking about watching her behaviour. Tiger is the worst behaved of all MPs and now without Goff reigning him in or Helen wagging her finger at him he goes off like a loose cannon frequently.

Some of the problems with Social Media and publicly available MPs is the posting of photos. One of the better MPs at maintaining his Facebook profile in something other than a sanitised version of the local rag is Simon “Just-in” Bridges. However he isn’t immune as you can see from this comment on a post about opening an Indian Sweat Sweet Shop.

“Crusher” Collins looks like she has a good sense of humour too by joining the Fan page of “Always Blow on the Pie”. Good to see the police minister supporting one of her own.

I have made some changes to the blog. I have removed BuddyPress, it was causing some problems with Wordpress MU.

However I have added a new feature which is shown in the toolbar now at the bottom of the page. It is the toolbar from Wibiya, a cunning, cool Israeli company, which adds closer integration to other social media platforms linking Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as providing access from the site to my Flickr and Youtube accounts. There is also a new search facility there as well.

Other cool features that will be used from time to time are the Chat and the Community Shout facilities bottom right. The Chat facility allows both textual chat as well as video and sound provided through Tinychat.

Let me know how it goes.

I have been getting a lot of support via email, Facebook and other messages.

I have decided to take a radical step given the extremely high public interest in this case, interestingly caused by the Police trying to inconvenience me by laying issuing their summons after all the law firms had shut for Christmas. Also Christmas traditionally is a news vacuum which they conveniently allowed me to fill. According to DPF my page views were 50% higher than his for Christmas and Boxing day.

Anyway onto my experiment. For all those budding lawyers, real lawyers and interested parties out there I have created a Wiki editable page for the development of the defence. I don’t think anyone has ever developed their defence in public before but given the Police have a distinct lack of understanding of technology, social media and the internet I reckon it will be an interesting experiment.

Given that I have already rung 20 law firms and only received out of office messages that they will be closed till the 11th this is really my only option other than an adjournment. Still I’d trust my readers and the internet way more anyway to collate and assemble a reasonable defence.

Let me know in comments if there are any issues, or via email. I believe that if you are a registered user on the blog then you can edit the Wiki page. When adding paragraphs you do need to pop into the html editor and add paragraph tags e.g. <p>

So there you go, help the Whale if you are able.

In Texas they are utilising the internet to out criminals not trying to plug the hole like the proverbial little Dutch boy and the Dyke as they are doing here.

Drunk driving in Montgomery County, Texas, this holiday season? Expect to see your name in Tweets, as the local district attorney’s office has vowed to name and shame drunk drivers on Twitter.

The tactic, hoping to dissuade drunk drivers using the threat of public humiliation, will see DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) arrests documented on the @MontgomeryTXDAO Twitter account, owned by Montgomery County District Attorney, Brett Ligon.

The idea was conceived by County Vehicular Crimes Prosecutor Warren Diepraam, and it’s not entirely new: the information is a matter of public record and some newspapers print the names of people charged with such crimes as a deterrent.

Fucking excellent, of course if we ever did that here there would be name suppression for celebrities, rich people, National Party Presidents and two bit entertainers

from Mashable

If you’re Adidas and you’ve got a Star Wars-inspired collection rolling out in January, what better way to promote it than by using social media? Adidas, however, has taken its online marketing initiative one step further integrating Facebook and Google Maps to create the Star Wars Death Star Superlaser.

The Adidas Originals application uses Facebook Connect to personalize the application experience, even granting you power over the Death Star control deck so you can blow up your Facebook friends’ streets with help from Google Maps.

The application experience is straight out of a Star Wars movie, and on the first go around you’ll notice that your location is the first target of the superlaser. After your street is blown to smithereens, however, you can target a friend’s location by selecting any one of your Facebook friends to attack. This is where the Google Maps integration comes into play; you can even fine tune the laser’s exact target using Street View if you so desire.

I took out the Pinko Blogger from Wellington.
